NL - Is Oak Bay Protecting Our natural Assets?
Election Message to Subscribers and Website Visitors
Oak Bay Watch has been asked by a number of residents whom we would recommend for Council, in the October 15, 2022 civic election, that would best serve the public interest.
Based on the current Council members’ voting records and how this relates to the priorities of Oak Bay’s residents, we can only recommend Councillors Zhelka, Patterson, Green and Braithwaite . All four have demonstrated they have worked both hard and diligently to improve the District’s governance.
The other members of this Council have not. The new prospective Councillors, as far as we can tell, based on their campaign material, their all-candidates presentations and their lack of local government experience, have not inspired confidence.
We expect little change in the make up of the new Council with only one seat vacated by the incumbent Councillors. It is therefore imperative that we support, the candidacies of Councillors Zhelka, Patterson, Green and Braithwaite based on their performance and experience and, the fact that the other incumbent Council members have indicated they intend to
unacceptably densify
Oak Bay’s single-family neighbourhoods.
Therefore, Oak Bay Watch recommends voting for only Councillors Zhelka, Paterson, Green and Braithwaite. Voting for any other candidate jeopardizes the chance of our suggested four being re-elected.
