Oak Bay Councillor Kevin Murdoch was singled out from all Greater Victoria politicians by a Victoria Taxpayer Community Organization to receive their top prestigious  Award.

Kevin Murdoch of Oak Bay was one of only three politicians who were selected by a Greater Victoria Community Taxpayers Organization for their  2017 'nice' list. He was ranked first for bringing forth a motion this fall at the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) conference to encourage provincial legislation to ban corporate and union donations for municipal political campaigns.

Oak Bay Watch would also like to congratulate him for his attempt to allow Oak Bay taxpayers to understand just how onerous the new 2018 sewage treatment plant costs are going to be by including them in the property tax notice. This also would provide the opportunity to defer them.

As previously reported by Oak Bay Watch, Councillor Murdoch's Council resolution to allow transparency and deferment was approved by a 6-1 vote. Then this approval was revisited and overturned by the deciding vote of  Mayor Jenson.
